Check out The ski area As a family

The Tignes – Val d’Isère ski area is the ultimate playground for a family holiday filled with fun and laughter in the mountains, thanks to its iconic peaks and wide-open spaces. Here, the whole family will discover the magic of skiing in one of the world’s most beautiful ski areas, with gentle slopes for beginners, fun zones and breathtaking scenery to accompany every descent.

From the morning to a delicious mug of hot chocolate late afternoon, families will find everything they need for a completely stress-free holiday: accessible ski lifts, renowned ski schools, safe beginners areas, and so many activities to choose from after a day on the slopes.

Learn how to ski at the foot of the slopes

For the little ones (aged 3 to 4) the Jardin des Neiges is a fun and completely safe area at the foot of the slopes where children can learn how to ski and have some fun at the same time. They’ll be introduced to the basics through various games in a 100% secure setting. Children in small groups (8 maximum) will be welcomed by qualified instructors and provided with equipment suitable for their age so that they can learn to ski in complete confidence. For older children, the ski schools and self-employed instructors offer skiing lessons adapted to different levels of ability. The goal is to improve while having fun, in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. For families, the Savonnette is a green run in the centre of the resort, and is ideal for beginners looking for somewhere safe to ski. It is easily accessible so that non-skiing parents can come and watch their children from the village.

Free ski lifts in the resort centre

If you’d like to teach your children how to take on their first turns, we recommend heading to the centre of the resort where you’ll find three free ski lifts for beginners’ slopes. This is the perfect place to learn how to ski!

  • Savonnette ski tow (in the resort centre)
  • Village chairlift (in the resort centre)
  • Lanches ski tow (departing from La Daille)

The Chalet des Aiglons Leisure centre for children up to 11

Your children can choose from the wide range of indoor and outdoor activities proposed by our team of fully qualified activity leaders. We can also take your children to their skiing lessons at the ESF DU CENTRE ski school, from the age of 3. We can take care of the bookings for ski lessons directly with the ESF ski school.

How to make the most of the ski area with your family?

The Valkids areas

To make sure the little ones can really make the most of their first skiing experiences on the snow, Val d’Isère has created a space especially for children in the Solaise sector: the ValKids areas. The ValKids fun slope and play area is heaven-on-earth for children! They’ll find an igloo there, as well as binoculars to observe the mountains, a mini zip line to whiz across the Solaise, and various obstacles on the fun slopes so they can have some fun as they practice their skills!

Easy Skiing in Solaise and Bellevarde

The Easy Skiing concept in Val d’Isère allows you to enjoy the slopes at your own pace, in a supportive and completely safe atmosphere. These gentle slopes in Solaise and Bellevarde are marked out with a specific logo, and they are perfect for beginners, families or skiers who would simply like to take their time. Using the Val d’Isère Ski application, you can follow these GPS-tracked routes and browse all the practical information. A perfect, easy-going way to enjoy the mountains. Find out more.

The Bearded Vultures' Trail!

There is a fun trail in Bellevarde dedicated to one of Val d’Isère’s symbols, the bearded vulture. As you ski down this slope, you’ll come across various obstacles on the theme of local wildlife and natural materials, similar to the Village Perdu, and all with reference to the Vanoise National Park’s emblematic bird of prey. The overall theme is inspired by land art and you’ll be skiing past various installations, including a ski-through bearded vulture tunnel, a spectacular entrance archway, a giant feather xylophone, and an archway with various games to tap on your way through. Pinpoint the slope here on the map.

The "P’tit cross" boardercross track

To work on your freestyle skiing technique, head to the junior “P’tit cross” area in Solaise. This special downhill-only slope features a range of fun obstacles. Pinpoint the slope here on the map.

The Village Perdu Great fun & atypical

Make sure you stop by the Village Perdu! This outdoor play area at an altitude of 2,000 m in the midst of the Etroits forest larch trees is completely free to access. Children can venture along the suspended walkways and into an eagle’s nest. This superb place can be reached on skis, and is guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family! ⚠️ This slope is not groomed and is only suitable for experienced skiers. Explore the area of La Daille to come across the fantastic little “Lost” Village.
