Children in the spotlight this winter

The extended ski area offers even more peace of mind with the brand new Gypaète fun slope, mini electric snowmobiles and activities designed just for the children… enough to keep them amused this winter in Val d’Isère!

The essentials of the ski slopes to enjoy with the children

Valkids spaces

To ensure the children enjoy their first skiing experience to the full, Val d’Isère has an area set aside just for them on the Solaise slopes. Since its opening in 2017, the Val Kids area has continued to expand and now includes an igloo, a free binoculars stand to observe the mountains, a mini zipwire to take to the heights of the Solaise sector, and fun slopes with all sorts of obstacles to keep them entertained as they progress! Visualize the track here on the map.

The new Gypaète fun slope!

The Bellevarde sector’s new ‘Gypaète’ slope is named after one of Val d’Isère’s greatest emblems, the bearded vulture. On the theme of local wildlife, the entire descent is organised around structures made from natural materials, along the lines of the Lost Village, shining a spotlight on this charismatic bird of the Vanoise National Park. In the spirit of land art, the slope features various obstacles such as a ski-through tunnel disguised as a bearded vulture, an equally impressive entrance arch, a xylophone in the form of a giant feather and an arch with fun skiing challenges. Visualize the track here on the map.

A sledging slope

For their very first sensations of sliding on the snow, take your sled and come and hurtle down this track dedicated to this activity which is located on the snow front next to the Savonette slope.

The 'P’tit cross' boardercross slope

To perfect your skiing technique, head to the Solaise massif where the junior “P’tit cross” is located. On this track several fun exercises will take shape throughout the descent. Visualize the track here on the map.

The lost village A different kind of fun

Don’t forget to visit the lost village! At an elevation of 2,000 metres, this free outdoor play area invites you to unwind in the heart of the Etroits larch forest. Children can cross the rope bridges and visit the eagle’s nest installed at this superb spot. Accessible on skis, it is a delight for young and old alike!

Please note, this trail is ungroomed and requires a good level of skiing. We let you explore the side of the Daille to find this beautiful little “lost” village.

Suggestions 6 activities to try with the children

1. Mini snowmobiles

Since last year, a snowmobile track with fun obstacles has been installed to give children a chance to drive a mini electric snowmobile (eco-friendly vehicles with zero CO2 emissions). From 4pm to 7pm, this activity is for 5-12 year-olds only, which makes it the ideal après-ski family activity for children to enjoy in the safety of an enclosed track. You’ll find it opposite the sports complex at the foot of the slopes.

2. Swimming pool

Dip into the swimming pool at the Centre Aquasportif, where you’ll find a 416 m² fun pool with a counter-current swimming lane, water cannons, massage jets, a paddling pool and underwater massage beds!

A whole universe that should appeal to the children, who can also take swimming lessons or sign up for the free activities!

3. Dog sledding

Admire the snowy landscape from a dog sled! A unique experience that highlights the incomparable bond that exists between the racing dogs and their master.

4. Farm visits

Come and meet the farm animals! Cows, chickens, sheep, pigs and more await you at the Ferme de l’Adroit for a family day out at this magical place. Food lovers can visit the shop where the shelves are packed with farmhouse cheeses and other local products.

6. Bowling

Go bowling at Les Barmes de l’Ours. A chance to enjoy a little quality time with the family, in the warm after an action-packed day in the great outdoors! Don’t forget to book ahead of your visit.
