If you prefer ski touring, you’ll find our 2 marked and secure zones as well as splendid off-piste runs, accessible through ski schools and independent instructors.
Speaking of the Face de Bellevarde, we can’t help but recall the great events that have taken place there, such as the 1992 Albertville Olympic Games, the 2009 World Ski Championships and the Critérium de la Première Neige, where the world’s best skiers gather every year.
Our tip: after warming up, be one of the first to ski down the Face de Bellevarde and enjoy the freshly groomed piste – a real treat. Bear in mind that this run is intended for skiers with an advanced level of skiing, so beginners are advised to abstain.

Family skiing with parents and children in Val d'Isère
Snow GardenIn Val d’Isère, family skiing truly comes into its own thanks to a ski area certified Famille Plus, designed to support children at every stage of their learning journey. From the Jardin des Neiges on the snow front to the fun-filled ValKids play areas, easy-access green runs and Easy skiing areas on Solaise and Bellevarde, everything is in place to enjoy skiing at a relaxed pace in a reassuring and peaceful setting.
Discover facilities designed with families in mind: the Savonnette green run, located on the snow front, allows children to learn under their parents’ watchful eye, while several free ski lifts make first turns easy and stress-free. Extend the experience with fun and themed slopes such as the Gypaète run or the “P’tit Cross”, after-ski activities (Snake Gliss, Yooner), and unique spots like the Village Perdu, an outdoor play area in the heart of nature, accessible on skis. All these experiences make Val d’Isère a destination where family skiing goes hand in hand with fun, progress and shared memories.
Val d’Isère’s international reputation is also rooted in its exceptional Olympic heritage. It was here that Jean-Claude Killy, one of France’s greatest ski champions, learned to ski before winning three gold medals at the 1968 Winter Olympics. Long known as the Espace Killy ski area, the former name of the Tignes – Val d’Isère domain still echoes this legendary past and contributes to the resort’s status as a world-class French ski resort.
This rich sporting history, combined with elite competition venues and a culture of excellence, firmly places Val d’Isère among the most iconic French ski resorts.

When it comes to guaranteed snow, Val d’Isère stands out as one of the most reliable snow destinations among French ski resorts. Thanks to its exceptional altitude and natural setting, the resort ranks among the highest ski resorts in France, ensuring outstanding snow conditions for up to five months of skiing.
Skiing in Val d’Isère is possible from the end of November to early May, making it one of the longest winter seasons in the Alps. With slopes stretching from 1,800 m to over 3,400 m, cold temperatures are naturally preserved, allowing snowfall to remain consistent throughout the season and limiting snow melt even in spring.
The ski area is also equipped with a high-performance snowmaking network, covering more than 65 km of slopes, guaranteeing optimal conditions from early winter onwards. Combined with predominantly north-facing slopes, this ensures excellent snow retention and consistently high snow quality.
Finally, Val d’Isère benefits from its proximity to the Italian border, which regularly brings intense and localized snowfalls through the well-known “retour d’Est” weather phenomenon. All these factors make Val d’Isère a benchmark snow-sure destination and one of the most dependable world-class French ski resorts for winter sports lovers.
