A cycling destination

“Val d’Isère is immensely proud to host the finish of a stage of the Tour de l’Avenir at the Col de l’Iseran, a legendary location on the Route des Grandes Alpes and the highest road pass in Europe. This event showcases the exceptional assets of our region and is fully in line with our ambition to develop a strong summer offering centred on outdoor sports. It embodies our vision for the mountains: combining sporting excellence, the discovery of exceptional landscapes and sustainable transport, in particular through the use of ski lifts to reach the pass.” Xavier Mattis, Mayor of Val d’Isère

“As a true cycling destination, we have been working for over 10 years to host the Tour de l’Avenir on our roads. As an annual event, it showcases young cycling talent and serves as the final stage before the Tour de France. Cycling is a major draw for the Haute Tarentaise Vanoise region, with its legendary mountain passes, trails and bike parks. Sporting events are part of our DNA; being in the company of champions and watching future champions emerge is our passion. Our high-altitude region is a haven of cool air; cycling is both a form of sustainable transport and a leisure and sporting activity. It is part of our past and will be an integral part of our future for responsible tourism.” Serge Revial, Vice-President of the Haute Tarentaise Community of Communes.
