Winter activities in Val d’Isère Top winter experiences in the snow – even without skiing

Winter activities in Val d’Isère aren’t just about skiing!
If you’re wondering what to do in the mountains in winter when you don’t ski, let us inspire you. Fly over snowy peaks on a paraglider, hike along mountain trails, or unwind in the warm pools of the Aquasport Center…

Here are 10 ideas for unforgettable winter activities without skiing – fun, sporty, or relaxing – to experience the mountains differently and create lasting memories.

1. The skating rink Ready to slide

Discover our artificial ice rink in the heart of the village and strap on your skates! The ideal place for your first slides, turns and even figures if you feel comfortable.

3. Paragliding Taking the high road

Fancy a bit of height and a change of perspective? Explore our fabulous mountain landscapes from the air with a paraglider, or speed down our peaks with speedfly, an advanced paragliding discipline with a smaller glider. Find out more about our service providers to get you up in the air.

4. Hiking and snowshoeing Visiting the surrounding area

Put on your snow boots or snowshoes and become an explorer for a few hours as you discover the trails that criss-cross our village and the surrounding mountains! Some are perched at altitudes of over 2,500 m, allowing you to admire grandiose landscapes, while others are a little lower, passing through forests of snow-covered fir trees… Here, time stands still.

5. Sledging On the snowfront

On the snowfront, to the left of the Savonnette ski lift, discover the sledging area, open from 10am to 5pm. Free access, equipment not provided. Please note that children remain under the responsibility of their parents. Unsurvised area.

Après-ski sledging session with our activity leader!
Have fun with family or friends with our original sledging activities on the snowfront! Every week throughout the winter season, our snowfront activity leader invites you to try — free of charge — the Snake Gliss, the Airboard, and the Yooner 😊

6. Val's house Cinema, Media Library & Museum

Spend a day at the Maison de Val and take the opportunity to discover the history of Val d’Isère, the birth of the alpine ski resort, and its local champions at the museum.

Why not check out the cinema schedule too? It’s the perfect chance to enjoy a comedy or an animated film — laughter and emotion guaranteed!

As for the media library, it offers video game areas, board games, and cozy reading corners — the perfect place to dive into a book or play a game. Of course, you can also borrow books and games to take home.
