The brand Oakley was created far from the “optical” world, as its founder started out making motorbike handlebars from a substance called “unobtainium”.
It was only in 1984 that he realised that this same substance could also be used to make glasses frames and the cylindrical shaped “O-Frame” glasses were born which went on to become the brand logo. Invention followed by innovation means that Oakley now possesses over 800 registered trademarks. The most important being the Prism™ which revolutionised the way of looking at the world improving lens colours and contrasts.
