Check out what's new this winter

We’ve got news for you! Hurry, check out what’s new this winter in terms of sports, eating out, accommodation and wellbeing. There’s something for everyone!

Eating out New restaurants

Opening of L'Alpin

L’Alpin is a new restaurant in the heart of the old village, serving a pleasant menu of traditional home cooked dishes in an authentic chalet that seats 64 people. There’s also a bar which opens at 6.30pm for pre-dinner drinks. The warm decor of stone, wood, wool and second-hand furniture adds to the friendly atmosphere, as does the menu which includes a selection of sharing dishes.

La Plage de L’Ouillette Full sunshine and lake view

After a complete refurbishment, the restaurant L’Ouillette is opening its terrace overlooking the frozen lake. Here you have three options: a quick lunchtime snack, high-quality self-service food, or the upstairs restaurant serving buckwheat pancakes, firepit grills and the chef’s suggestions. Since December 2023, only the outdoor area has been open, but the indoor dining area will be available for December 2024.

La Folie Douce The arty eatery

The artistic dimension of La Folie Douce reaches new heights with the introduction of new paintings and cabaret shows that are even more fascinating. Visitors can now pick from three show venues rolled into one, to see a wide variety of dazzling performances. The cabaret stage remains the main attraction, while an outdoor roof terrace has been added next to the VIP area, so that diners can enjoy both the show and the panoramic view. The cabaret also continues at La Cucùcina which serves up a combination of artistic performances and culinary experiences.

At the new Val Square, in La Daille

See you at Les Tontons

Les Tontons restaurant

The inviting atmosphere of the restaurant Les Tontons is a combination of vintage touches and the spirit of the great French brasserie. Here the specialities are grills and rôtisserie cuisine cooked in the charcoal oven or on the authentic grill that you can see from the dining area.

The restaurant opens onto a south-facing terrace with large, shared tables and guingette-style decor for those lunches right by the slopes. The cuisine places the emphasis on quality and togetherness, with carefully selected meats and fish, fabulous starters made for sharing, delicious wines and a whole variety of accompaniments. A great atmosphere and good food that should appeal to epicureans.

Les Tontons bar

This bar at Le Val Square is the new lively venue open from 8am for breakfast through to 2am, to round off your night out with a genepi. The two-storey Les Tontons bar with an open mezzanine area is always buzzing whatever the day of the week, with concerts, wine or beer tastings, morning wellness activities and afternoon lectures. In the daytime you can make the most of the sunny terrace for an après-ski session to music, with concerts and DJ sets. The menu has everything from breakfast to world cuisine by Jami Delivery and highly specialised cocktails.

Sports activities Action on the slopes

The new Gypaète fun slope

One of Val d’Isère’s best-known icons, the bearded vulture, has a new fun slope named after it, the Gypaète slope in the Bellevarde sector. From top to bottom, the installations dotted along this slope highlight the local wildlife and natural materials. As in the resort’s Lost Village, the charismatic bird of the Vanoise National Park takes pride of place, featuring in the form of a ski-through tunnel, in an impressive archway entrance, a giant feather that becomes a xylophone, and a play arch. Check the track on the map.

In the village New features & developments

Val Square Commerces & Co La Daille's new beating heart

Ongoing development of the hamlet of La Daille includes the total rebuilding of the shopping centre, now named Val Square – Commerces & Co. This 2,000 m² facility is being redesigned and energy-renovated, with a new layout and the addition of 6 retail outlets. Val Square is a lively venue and service hub located right at the foot of the slopes in the heart of La Daille, featuring 8 outlets on 2 floors and a digital tourist information point.

  • Here you’ll find a few restaurants: Les Tontons with a menu of sharing dishes and grills, Jami Delivery for Click & Collect meals or food delivered to your door, and Les Tontons bar, open from breakfast onwards, all day and evening, into the early hours.
  • For skiers, the Skimium Val Ski Shop is now one of the largest ski shops in the village. The ESF ski school has also been rebuilt and still provides a ski kindergarten next to Le Val Square.
  • For property, Val d’Isère Agence now welcomes customers to its brand new estate agency.
  • The Spar supermarket can still be found at Le Val Square as can the new Fasty Foody outlet.

Expansion for tourism A digital welcome

The Tourist Office has been completely redesigned to welcome this winter’s visitors in a brand new, modern facility featuring:

  • A souvenir shop to take something from Val d’Isère home with you
  • Information terminals with 2 touch screens at the disposal of visitors
  • A museum area with a wall feature retracing the history of our village
  • A space with a specific screen devoted to the new Loyalty Club

Information screens have also been installed in the Tourist Office window, at Le Val Square in La Daille and at the bus station in the village centre. These screens add to the Tourist Office information capacity and meet the wishes of visitors in search of information quickly and easily. They complete the digital offering already available via the website and the Val d’Isère ski app.

Val d'Isère Le Club The new loyalty club

Val d’Isère now has its own fan club! A way of thanking visitors who fall in love with the resort and become our best ambassadors. The Club offers access to various activities on and off the slopes, as well as unusual events, immersive behind-the-scenes tours and bespoke offers based on your personal preferences. After 10 years of holidays in Val d’Isère, Club members can obtain their first loyalty “medal” which comes with rewards. Indeed, this very special status gives you access to new, even more exclusive privileges, including the traditional reward ceremony itself, but also festive events and invitations to activities relating to day-to-day life in the village.

New ski pass options for greater flexibility

The Val d'Isère 4-hour lift pass

28 new terminals controlling access to the slopes have been installed for this winter, making it technically possible to offer 4-hour lift passes. This is in response to increasing demand from customers, driven by new combinations of downhill skiing and other activities that are increasingly popular in mountain resorts. The Val d’Isère 4-hour lift pass is available at the price of €54 per adult in peak season (from 23 December to 5 Mai).
