The story is about a soldier who returns home and meets a mysterious old man who turns out to be the Devil in disguise. The Devil offers the soldier a deal: in exchange for his violin, the soldier will receive a book that will give him exceptional powers and the chance to become rich and powerful. The soldier, attracted by the promise of wealth, accepts. This choice leads him into a series of misadventures ...
