"GRANDES ALPES" ROute

From Menthon to Thonon les Bains
, discover the "Grandes Alpes" Route. You can have a few minutes walk on this amazing road or, if you want to discover the whole of the road, use a bike, a motorbike or a car... You will be astonished by the beauty of the landscape and all the rest...


Val d'Isere is located on the "Grandes Alpes" route, halfway from Menthon and Thonon les Bains, so the village is the perfect place for a few hours or a few days rest. Coming from the Col de l'Iseran, Val d'Isere is only 15km away.

From high peaks to large valleys, from the eternal snows to beaches in the South of France, the "Grandes Alpes" route is an amazing journey.
The road was created by the "French Touring Club" in 1909. The French President Albert Lebrun inaugurated it in 1937.
But the second World War stopped the increasing car tourism development, and it was only in the 50's that the road became more and more famous.
Today, this road is well known world wide by the lovers of the French Alps. 

So, if you too, want to discover identity, culture and history of the Alps...
