Val d'Isere is located on the "Grandes
Alpes" route, halfway from Menthon and Thonon
les Bains, so the village is the perfect place for
a few hours or a few days rest. Coming from the Col
de l'Iseran, Val d'Isere is only 15km away.
From high peaks to large valleys, from the eternal
snows to beaches in the South of France, the "Grandes
Alpes" route is an amazing journey.
The road was created by the "French Touring Club"
in 1909. The French President Albert Lebrun inaugurated
it in 1937.
But the second World War stopped the increasing car
tourism development, and it was only in the 50's that
the road became more and more famous.
Today, this road is well known world wide by the lovers
of the French Alps.
So, if you too, want to discover identity,
culture and history of the Alps...
There is just one thing to do... Take the road
